Received 35% oaking in a combination of French and Hungarian 225 litre barriques for 18 months. This gave the smoky/savoury notes that Shiraz showcases so well, but since the majority of the wine is unwooded, the fruit shines through.
Niel Joubert Shiraz
Glac? cherries and plums, with nuances of dried herbs, spice and peppercorns adding interest. The palate is juicy and smooth, fruit-driven with spicy notes coming into play again at the end. A lithe body, with a slight grip on the finish indicating ageing ability.
