This wine was made from 5 different vineyards on the Simonsberg slopes, blended together to create an intriguing Merlot from this appellation. Each vineyard block was fermented separately. Extensive cold soak maceration before fermentation was used to release colour and flavour extraction into the wine. Only freerun juice was matured for 12months, 10% new and 90% 2nd & 4th fill French Oak barriques.
Glen Carlou Merlot
Beautiful on both nose and palate with hints of mint and violets, ripe raspberries, red cherry and black-currant. Subtle oak, with an intriguing complexity. This wine has a textured mid-palate outlining finely grained tannins, framing concentrated fruit flavours. This is an honest expression of an individual grape made into a delightful wine.
